Dr T Higa in Japan discovered this remarkable system. EM is short for Effective Micro-organisms or Efficient Microbes. Dr Higa devised methods of promoting beneficial, naturally occurring micro-organisms which are found in the environment.

EM-1 Mother Culture can be used to make EM fermented liquid or it can be used to make Bokashi which is the liquid with Bran which can:
- Increase plant growth
- Allow plants to better resist drought, pests and disease
- Rebuild and improve soils
- Put nutrients back into food
- Be used as a household cleaner
- Assist composting
Prices and Ordering of EM Products
Effective Micro-organisms (EM) are also used to make Bokashi. A small quantity of EM-1 Mother Culture mixed with molasses and water and allowed to go through a fermentation process and then mixed with bran creates Bokashi compost.
Activated EM-1 is a liquid mix fermented without the bran and diluted and poured onto soil .
EM Ceramic products incorporate EM in a ceramic base and are made into small pipes, rings or supplied as a powder.
EM Ceramics can be used to:
- Treat and purify water
- Keep ponds clean
- Energise bath water
- Turn dead soil into living soil
EM products are really making a positive difference to the world by undoing some of the environmental damage and repairing ecosystems.
